Start Photoshop. Perform the customization steps found on pages PS 6 through PS 10. Create a new document with a white background, 3 inches wide and 4 inches tall, and save the file in the Photoshop PSD format as Lab 8-3 Cupcake Flyer on your USB drive. Use the Custom Shape Tool to create a stamp shape. (Hint: Load the Objects category of shapes from the Custom Shape Picker and use the Stamp 1 shape.) Name the layer, Stamp. Apply a 3-pixel black Stroke layer style to define the border of the stamp. Apply a Gradient Overlay layer style with the colors of your choice to add texture to the background of the stamp shape. Add text similar to that shown in Figure 8 – 97. Create a layer group named, Type, and drag the type layers into it. Open the Lab 8-3 Cupcake file from the Chapter 08 folder of the Data Files for Students. Drag the cupcake photo into the Lab 8-3 Cupcake Flyer document. Hide the Stamp layer and Type layer group so you can focus on the cupcake. Use the Pen Tool and Freeform Pen Tool to trace the different parts of the cupcake. It may be helpful to zoom in so the cupcake is enlarged. Color the shapes appropriately and add layer styles, such as a Pattern Overlay, to add texture. Create a new layer group named, Cupcake, to store all the cupcake layers. Delete the original cupcake photo layer and resize the Cupcake layer group to enlarge your clip art cupcake. Rearrange the stacking order of the layer groups to your liking. Rotate, resize, and reposition any layers to your liking. Apply any additional layer styles you think benefit the design.
