Part 1 Requirements
Make any revisions to your own Week 2, Assignment 1 submission as suggested by the instructor.
Then, add at least one file from student submissions for each of the other group studies that were completed for Week 2, Assignment 1. The final compiled post should include the following:
At least one chest and details study with all labels and descriptions.
At least one cupboard and details study with all labels and descriptions.
At least one chair, details and tapestry study with all labels and descriptions.
Create a medieval cover page.
Part 2 – Identifying Reproductions
Imagine that you have a client who is opening a boutique hotel. He wants to be able to offer a variety of historic interiors and has contracted you to order beds, case pieces, seating, accessories, tapestries, fabrics, etc., to furnish multiple rooms. This week you are to select modern day reproduction items that reflect medieval design and motifs. You will need to reference your compiled Week 2_Assignment 1 Historic Interiors Notebook files to guide you when you select the items listed below:
Two pieces of furniture with medieval characteristics and details.
At least one medieval type accessory.
At least one medieval style tapestry.
Search the web for images that have details specific to the medieval period. Save the images you want to use as .jpg files at 72 dpi. Once saved and reduced in size if necessary, add each to the template provided. To maintain good visual balance be sure to correctly size the images to fit the template and then complete the required labeling.
Part 2 Requirements – Labeling
All labeling must be done with computer generated text. Always include the period and country of origins when labeling each item. Other requirements are as listed below:
Tapestry and accessory: these selections must have a name-label, note the country of origin and a brief historic summary that describes it and discuss original functions.
Each furniture image: must have a name-label and note the country of origin. On one side of the image include a minimum of three labels that identify three details specific to the historic period studied. Each label must include an accurate description to show you have expanded your knowledge to be able to fully identify and describe furniture details. You are to use specific vocabulary/terminology learned within the weekly online lectures, assignments and e-text reading.
When describing or defining details you must use your own words. Do not copy directly from a dictionary or text book.
You cannot repeat any labels on the two items. So each week a total of six new labels are required related to the historic period studied.
Citation: All web images are required to include a citation. You are to add a Works Cited page which includes a link to the source for each selection. Make sure it works and connects directly to the furniture piece in context. Use the MLA Citation Helper for guidance.
