Assessment is intended to test (i) students’ knowledge and understanding of project management concepts and issues and their application to professional practice in information systems (ii) students’ acquisition of project planning and management. Assessment consists of group coursework (groups of 3 to 5 and report of 5500-6000 words) based on a mixture of individual (40%) and team (60%) case-study analysis. It includes the production, interpretation and description of a series of diagrams based upon the techniques covered in the lectures. No additional credit will be given for over-length work. You are expected to keep within the word range specified above. Writing to a word limit is a key skill which is often required in the workplace and producing assignments to length provides useful practice. All overlength work will be looked at particularly critically for irrelevant material and unnecessary detail. Overlength pieces of work commonly reveal these weaknesses and may lose you marks.
