HELPFUL HINTS: When choosing your product you need to look for a company/brand that could use your expertise in their current marketing. Make sure you do not pick a company such as Sony, Apple, Lululemon, Sobeys, etc. These are high brand organizations that already have strong integrated marketing. I would recommend you find a local product/company that you think should expand or even change the way they market themselves. You could find a company that is either just breaking out, perhaps offers a product in another province/country that would work in NS OR a local product that you think should expand.
The goal of this first assignment is for you to understand the product you will be working with throughout the remainder of this course. You will perform a Communication Marketing Analysis on your product. For reference see pg 48-50 (Chapter 2) of your text. Your Communication Marketing Analysis should include a description of your product, a detailed description of your target market, competitor analysis (listing and describing 3 main competitors), and opportunities (gaps) in the market. You should include a one page SWOT analysis as an appendix. This assignment should be between 6-8 pages double spaced.
