Effective Punishment

One aspect of raising healthy children is understanding how to best provide correction when they make poor choices or behave in unacceptable ways. Over the years, there has been much debate over the most effective form of punishment for children. As part of this debate, you have to take into consideration operant conditioning as this is the basis for how effective correction works. Operant conditioning should be considered when choosing how to best administer corrective actions whether the parents choose to use corporal punishment, time outs, or loss of privileges.

Discuss the differences between negative and positive punishment. What are the factors that make punishment effective?
Discuss the effectiveness of corporal punishment and elaborate upon when you think it should be used.
Discuss how culture affects the type of punishment used.
Give reasons in support of your responses based on your readings and personal experiences.

Humanities 1 Class: How does the era of the Middle Ages reflect the Culture Epoch Theory in which society goes from chaos to adjustment to balance? Chaos is when there is no common understanding of reality for the majority of the people over a significant period of time. Adjustment is when artists, philosophers, theologians, musicians, architects, etc. give form to the chaos. Then leaders, academics, businessmen, and students study what they have created and give society form. Balance is when there is a common understanding of reality for the majority of people. Inevitably, society falls into chaos and the cycle begins again. Give specific examples of art, architecture, literature, and/or music that demonstrate the time of Chaos in the Dark Ages (400-800 CE), Adjustment in the Romanesque, and finally Balance in the Gothic. Chaos will ensue again when the Black Death kills between 1/3 and 1/2 of the entire population of Europe. Go to your “Online Texts and Images” at the bottom of your toolbar and check out the “Report on the Cause of the Plague” by the University of Paris Medical Faculty, October 1348″ as well as the images. Assignment 1: Supervision

Many novice human services providers or those who are new to the field are required to practice under supervision to gain the skills necessary to work autonomously with their clients. These professionals who require supervision do not possess the licensure or certification needed to practice independently. The supervision provides the novice professionals with an opportunity to develop the skills necessary to practice independently by working with experienced clinicians while meeting the standards required by their state or province to obtain licensure at the highest level, which would allow them to practice independently.

However, some human services professionals may never seek the highest level of licensure and practice indefinitely under the required supervision of their profession.

In this assignment, you will review your state’s requirements for supervision of counselors and social workers to understand and apply the rules in your future career as a human services administrator.

Tasks:

Read your state’s requirements identified in the relevant licensing board’s website for supervision of counselors and social workers. After you have read the requirements, address the following in about 300 words:
