After reading \”The Gospel Message\” article in the Module/Week 4 Reading & Study folder, answer the following questions (250–500 words). These questions must be answered in separate paragraphs.

1. Double-space all your lines and follow standard rules of formatting (APA or MLA or Turabian).

2. Make sure you have a clear and helpful introduction. Are you serving your readers and drawing them into the topic? Does it have a specific thesis statement?

3. Re-write your first sentence several times. First impressions are always important. If the meaning of your first sentence is unclear, your readers may waste time struggling to figure out the point of your paper. If your first sentence is sloppy and does not follow the simple rules of grammar, spelling, and punctuation, then your readers will immediately wonder if your ideas and your research are also sloppy.

4. Make sure you have a helpful conclusion. Does it guide the reader to think about what is most important to remember from the paper?

5. Read your paper aloud to yourself and listen for mistakes. Aggressively look for vague sentences.

6. Read your paper again and put your finger on each word. Be aggressive as you look for mistakes in wording, grammar, transitions, spelling, and capitalization.

7. Imagine that you will read your paper to a group of high school students. Will they understand it? Do you give specific quotes and interesting details so the students will grow interested in your topic? Are you keeping the quotes short (readers get bored with long quotes)? Are you answering their questions? They will ask, \”Why is this stuff so important?\” Make sure your paper is persuasive enough to answer such questions.

Remember, if you get a great education, but you cannot communicate that knowledge to others, then you have wasted your time. Clear communication to others is a way of loving people. So, actively seek to improve your skills in carefully communicating what you have learned.
