Developing a foreign policy is a complex exercise. It begins with answering a few foundational questions. (1) Should America’s foreign policy be driven by what is best for the United States (Realpolitik) or by its values (doing good)? (2) Should the United States minimize its involvement in world affairs (isolationism) or actively take the lead on issues facing the planet (globalism)? The way in which presidents and policy makers answer these questions defines policy outcomes. It also determines how the rest of the world views the United States.
One area of foreign policy that has received increasing attention in the United States is religious freedom. American policy makers have decided that advancing religious freedom around the world is good for the United States (Realpolitik). As a central pillar of American democracy, the United States has also concluded that respect for religious freedom serves to advance and protect democracy worldwide (doing good). As a result, the United States has decided to actively taken the lead on this issue (globalism).
With this in mind, your task in this discussion is to examine America’s foreign policy related to international religious freedom. Specifically, you should review the following items. Links to both can be found on the U.S. Department of State’s website. They are located under the Department’s Office of International Religious Freedom.
International Religious Freedom Act (1998)
International Religious Freedom Report (2013)

(1) Regarding the International Religious Freedom Act (1998)
What does this Act do?
In your view, what does this Act say about America’s foreign policy goals?

Based on the executive summary, what things have served to restrict or damage religious freedom around the world in 2013?

The number of sources you can use will vary, it can be more than 4 and it can be less than 4 as long as you cite the sources that you use. As long as the sources that you use are creditable. I will stress that this has to be in Turabian.
Please be sure that you READ the instructions carefully before beginning the essay. Every point has to be touched on if the question asks for it in the essay it has to be applied and answered otherwise I do not receive credit.
Lastly, the minimum requirement on this journal assignment is two pages. That being said the instructor had advised us that us a very well written and researched one will run over two pages thus why I put 4 pages but it does have to be double spaced and it has to be written in that one format that I stated in my instructions.
If there is anything else that I can help with you please don”t hesitate in asking the journal is due March 22 so hopefully I have given enough time.
