The controversial debate over amnesty for undocumented immigrants continues. Congress is presently considering immigration reform, and there are differing views on how to solve the immigration problem. Discuss the pros and cons of this debate, and offer your opinion (supported by properly cited research) regarding amnesty for undocumented aliens. Use the Henslin textbook (especially pp. 268-270), the optional book, Law Enforcement & the INS, 2nd ed., listed in the syllabus, or any other reliable academic research material on this topic to support your opinion. The videos below offer some insight into the variations in crime rates by immigration status. Because immigration is an emotional issue, there are very strong feelings about immigration reform. All opinions and conclusions must be supported by research data. Personal experiences may be relevant but often become anecdotal. Your report will be evaluated on how you support your views with research data, and how you incorporate both the pros and cons of the debate.
