Project Deliverable 3: Database and Data Warehousing Design

of the main functions of any business is to be able to use data to leverage a strategic competitive advantage. This feat hinges upon a company’s ability to transform data into quality information. The use of relational databases is a necessity for contemporary organizations; however, data warehousing has become a strategic priority due to the enormous amounts of data that must be analyzed along with the varying sources from which data comes. Since you are now the CIO of a data-collection company which gathers data by using Web analytics and operational systems, you must design a solution overview that incorporates data warehousing. The executive team needs to be clear about what data warehousing can provide the company. Section 1: Design DocumentYour assignment must follow these formatting requirements:

ASSIGNMENT BRIEF

You have the option of submitting a conventional academic essay of 3000 words based on your module diary in which you reflect on your personal reactions to the material encountered and the question tackled in your essay. In either case the same marking criteria will apply overall.

In your essay you will be expected to evidence research from at least four of the titles set as preparatory reading or included in the list of indicative reading and to use recognised analytical methods detailed in these and in the module workshops. Apply these analytical methods to at least two core media texts; refer to other examples as appropriate. Please make sure you are aware of criteria listed on essay feedback sheets. These are given above in this guide. Also take care to check this brief carefully before and during work on the assignment.

Article Essay

ArticleThe following excerpt is from a short piece by L. Randall, professor of physics at Harvard University, that appeared in \”The Educational Experiences that Change a Life.\”   (The New York Times Magazine, September 14, 2011)A professor who later became my adviser gave me the best advice I ever received, which was to not be afraid to speak up and ask questions.  Suddenly teachers were speaking directly to me, and my questions were usually good enough that I could detect the relief of other students who actually had the same ones, reassuring me I was doing the right thing. Now, as a professor, I know not to see classes as passive experiences. QuestionDo you think the adviser gave the author \”the best advice\”? Why or why not? What does the author mean by knowing \”not to see classes as passive experiences\”? Do you agree?  Why or why not?  How does your experience as a student relate to the author\’s experience? Use examples from your own experience to support your answers.

ECE 354 Assessment & Intervention During Early Childhood / week 4 journal

Throughout this course we have discussed some of the important topics surrounding assessment. There is no question that assessment is important as we have learned over the last four weeks, but it is also a heavily debated topic in education. According to Wortham (2012), “Assessments in the early childhood years have many purposes; some are beneficial for young children, and others are detrimental” (p. 21). Reflecting over your coursework so far, as a caregiver, teacher or practitioner, how do the benefits of assessments at any age level directly relate to you and your work with children? What do you feel Wortham means in the above quote that assessments can be detrimental? What might the impact of these detriments be for the child, for you as the caregiver, and for the families? In what ways might culture impact assessments (i.e. language barriers)? Finally, think back to how you viewed assessment at the start of this course. How have your views of assessment changed? How will the knowledge you have gained of assessment support you in your future work with children? One to two double-spaced pages (not including title and reference pages).

Economic Homework

Scenario: The President of the United States has been elected on the promise of fiscal responsibility. By law he cannot reduce the net interest paid on the debt. The President\’s budget is projected to leave the country with a $1100B deficit. The United States is subject to global security concerns. At the same time, a lingering recession and financial markets rescue package reduces the government\’s tax revenues and forces the government to increase its spending on unemployment benefits, welfare, housing assistance, food stamps, and other need-based programs. Because of the increased spending and reduced revenues, the nation falls into a projected deficit of nearly XXX in 2015 (This is the first piece of the information you need to find). The President is committed to keeping his campaign promises in order to avoid future crisis over the US\’s financial standing. He must raise taxes, cut spending, or a combination of both to stay within his new guideline of a deficit below $1100B. The President turns to you, his trusted economic advisor, for help. (Note: While some events in this scenario reflect actual events, others are hypothetical for the purposes of this exercise. Budget figures in the simulation are actual White House figures of 2012, including spending and revenues of 2012.)Given the information you watch and read in the preceding Module 7 activities, use that background to answer the following questions for discussion. Since the simulation is using 2012 numbers, start off with actual numbers just to inject a sense of reality into this discussion. Research this information from a reliable source and begin your analysis with what you found. Detail your choices for cuts and spending, paying close attention to what you read in the Bowles and Montgomery articles. Finally, analyze the effect your choices will have on the economy.

Security Risk Analysis and Assessment Report (

(350 Points) Organizations of all sizes should be concerned with the security and confidentiality of their electronic data. Cyber crimes affect individuals and companies alike. However, companies typically have more financial and other assets that can be compromised by various cyber crimes. Establishing an organization-wide information security program is a great start to mitigate cyber-related crimes and attacks. This process typically commences with an honest evaluation of the organization’s vulnerabilities and potential threats. For this assignment, you will read a scenario and develop a report as outlined below.A contractor for the United States Department of Defense builds proprietary communication devices and peripherals, which allow soldiers in active combat to communicate with central command. These devices are used to transmit highly sensitive information regarding military deployments and battle plans. Once delivered, the devices interface with the U.S. military global communications network. In order to comply with the military’s security requirements, the contractor must conduct a security risk analysis of their internal networks and information systems for intrusion detection and cybercrime prevention. Please note that the contractor is performing a security risk assessment of its own network and system and not of the military network. After all, a breach of security on the contractor’s computer systems could compromise confidential and sensitive military information. You have been asked to head up the project team that will ultimately perform this security assessment and analysis. You may consider referring to these resources for guidance on federal legislation and standards:

Manufacturing and Services1

Review the following scenario:Your process team has two deliverables due shortly, each for a different client in a different industry but with the same fundamental objective of analyzing the current manufacturing or service operation and recommending changes. The first client, SBS Seating, manufactures front seats for several major car manufacturers, while the second is MLD Hospital\’s Diagnostic Medicine unit.Your task is to develop a high-level analysis of both clients\’ manufacturing processes as a preliminary report that will subsequently be delivered to the client. In this report, include the following:

Planning and Sourcing

Your efforts with MLD Hospital have paid off. The corporation has hired SMP and your staff to provide supply chain management consulting services. Your team has begun analyzing the existing processes, and you have been tasked with developing the purchasing policies and procedures with focus on ethics in the supply chain.Remember: From a supply chain management perspective, a company produces services or products. Clearly, MLD Hospital produces a service. This means that sourcing analysis must consider the raw materials necessary for producing this service (e.g., bandages, needles, blood, and medical equipment).Using course materials and other resources, develop a paper for the hospital management consisting of the following sections:

Process Performance

Review the scenario at beginning of the assignment list.As the company examines various methods to assess its performance and design processes, it is looking for an analysis of the existing workflow production process and the factors that most directly impact such measurements. As a review, the most common metrics for production processes are as follows:Using course materials and other research, complete the following:
