Asian Americans have long been portrayed in U.S. media as exotic, strange, and/or dangerous foreigners (regardless of how long they have been residents and/or citizens of the U.S.). In recent decades a new stereotype has gained popularity: Asian Americans as a “model minority.” In this module, we will read Wajahat Ali describe how frequently Asian American actors are typecast. Leigh Adams Wright explores the use of Asian culture, fashion, and languages in the cult sci-fi series Firefly, and asks why U.S. television likes to reference Asia so often, but seems so reluctant to cast Asian American performers.

Research suggests a number of strategies to reduce intergroup conflict. Your current project is to devise a way to reduce intergroup conflict that has been escalating between the boys at the center, many of whom were active in local gangs.    Answer the above points in a 3-page paper.
