stereotype of asian american

Asian Americans have long been portrayed in U.S. media as exotic, strange, and/or dangerous foreigners (regardless of how long they have been residents and/or citizens of the U.S.). In recent decades a new stereotype has gained popularity: Asian Americans as a “model minority.” In this module, we will read Wajahat Ali describe how frequently Asian American actors are typecast. Leigh Adams Wright explores the use of Asian culture, fashion, and languages in the cult sci-fi series Firefly, and asks why U.S. television likes to reference Asia so often, but seems so reluctant to cast Asian American performers.

1. Embed one or more video clips from the show that you are discussing.

2. Write two or more paragraphs explaining how the video clip exemplifies some of the ideas/terms/concepts in the reading(s) that you have selected. You must directly reference the reading(s). You can definitely quote the reading(s), and if you do, make sure to provide attribution — state the author(s), you don’t have to provide the page number(s).

Family Systems in Social Work Practice

Families are as unique as the individuals who form them. While you may utilize the same or similar techniques, while working with family systems (through the steps in the GIM and related practice skills), it is also important to recognize that each family has its own unique needs and experiences in the world. The empowerment perspective states that an essential aspect of working with individuals and families is to address their feelings of powerlessness and oppression. Empowerment is a process; and one part of that process is to gain an awareness of the oppressive structures evident in our society. Oppression, in the form of racism, sexism, classism, and homophobia, can impact a family’s quality of life and ability to thrive. Empowerment practice includes discussing potential societal barriers that may have contributed to the family’s concerns. , review this week’s Learning Resources. Select a diverse family system, such as a family with differences in sexual orientation, a family with differences in race or ethnicity, or a family with members who are managing a disability. Then, consider potential barriers they might encounter in society. Finally, think about how a social worker might address one of these barriers on an individual, family, organizational, group, or community level. A brief description of the diverse family system you selected. Then explain a potential barrier they might encounter in society. Finally, explain one skill a social worker might use to address this barrier on an individual, family, organizational, group, or community level.

Create a clinical question based on your Learning Contract, using the PICO structure. Also, clearly sketch out the elements of the clinical question in relation to PICO format as demonstrated in table 5.1. & 5.2.
Then, using the above PICO question, you are required to list the key words used to undertake the search, the rationale for the choice of words (why where these words chosen), the number of articles retrieved for each key word and the filtering processes used (including Boolean operators, truncation, combined phrase search etc.) as to reduce the articles to a manageable number.
( I have attached the learning contract and the PICO formats as well).
