Do you think the current sample you have is enough to draw an accurate conclusion, or do you need a larger sample?
What conclusions can you draw from comparing both sets of data?

Explain whether or not your questions were effective.

Interviewer: How long have you been having headaches? CLOSED QUESTION

Evaluate the Questions: After you have identified examples of 5 open and 5 open questions in your transcript, write an evaluation of the effectiveness of your use of questions (Approximately one paragraph for this analysis). Explain whether or not your questions were effective. How did your client respond to your questions? How would you improve the effectiveness of your questions?
Identify Techniques Used: Next, identify at least 5 examples of paraphrasing, summarizing, or reflections you used (must have at least one of each: paraphrase, summary, and reflection). Again, use all caps on your transcript to identify each technique.

Television provides us with many interesting examples of interpersonal and neurotic behaviors. In this assignment, you will delve into the life and actions of some of your favorite television characters and analyze them using Horney’s coping strategies.

Interestingly, Horney’s three coping strategies for one’s neurotic needs correlate very well with three of Adler’s different personality types:

Horney’s moving-toward strategy—Adler’s getting or leaning type
Horney’s moving against—Adler’s ruling or dominant type
Horney’s moving away from—Adler’s avoiding type

Using Horney’s theory of coping with neurotic needs with three different interpersonal orientations, select a TV program of your choice containing a character that Horney would identify as exhibiting neurotic behaviors. As you watch a full episode of this show, focus on this character and tally each instance of moving-toward, moving-against, and moving-away behavior.

Research Horney’s theory using your textbook, the Internet, and the Argosy University online library resources. Based on your research, respond to the following:

Discuss this character’s neurotic needs and trends.
What do you think has happened in his/her life that has led to these behaviors?
In addition to general life events, how has gender and culture influenced the character’s neurotic needs and behaviors?
How do these interpersonal orientations impact the way this character interacts with others and develops relationships?

What do you assess Eisenhower’s standpoint to be?

Short Response Essay to Eisenhower’s Farewell Speech

write a short essay (3-4 pages) to assess and critique Eisenhower’s Farewell speech (I have attached the transcrpt as well). When writing, use examples from the speech to support your ideas. Also, answer these questions in the essay:

1) What do you assess Eisenhower’s standpoint to be? (Consult our text for more on standpoint). Is his standpoint consistent with that of a career military man? If so, why? If not, why not?

2) What sort of speech is this? Is it informative, persuasive, invitational, or something else? Was it a special occasion speech? If so,what kind?

3) What were Ike’s goals? What did he hope to accomplish? And what sort of language did he use – concrete or abstract or both? Cite examples. Was his delivery appropriate – meaning his pacing pitch, vocal variety, etc.?

4) Is it well-reasoned? That is to say, does he engage in any fallacies? If so, are they intentional? Is he being honest or he is trying to twist his language to make is point? What was his ethos? Did his speech have logos? Despite his rather dry delivery, what evidence do you see of pathos, if at all?

5) What sorts of questions is he addressing: questions of value, fact, or policy (or all three)? Where?

6) Does he seem well prepared, rehearsed and practiced? How, if at all, does he use gestures to emphasize his points? Such as?

7) If Eisenhower were delivering this speech today, what ideas would you suggest if you were helping him write, prepare and rehearse it?

These are among the questions you might want to consider as you evaluate and critique this speech. You may wish to apply other course concepts as well.

(PLEASE DO NOT WRITE A NUMBERED LIST OF QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS… IT IS AN ESSAY)

Please include an APA References page on which you include any resources you think you might want to use. You do not need to include the speech on the References page (it would be hard to cite in this way) but you will need to cite any remarks of his using the transcript as a source.
